How to Stop Living in Fear While Running Your Business, Point #1: Choices are the first step to results

Today we’re talking about something that can make a massive difference in your business. It can make the difference between massive breakthroughs and no breakthroughs at all.

And I’ll start by asking: What does every entrepreneur on the planet want? Everyone wants results, right? Everyone wants a better outcome than the time before. But what not everyone realizes is that results come from actions and your actions come from the choices you make. They come from the daily decisions you make. And so I thought it was really important to talk today about how you’re making decisions because your decisions are impacting your actions and your actions are impacting your results.

We all make decisions emotionally and then we justify them logically. And there’s a lot of emotion out there right now, especially fear. All of the social distancing or physical distancing, whatever you want to call it, is activating the fight-or-flight response in our bodies. And whether you want it to or, your personal life impacts your business life. If you’re in a bad mood, it’s hard to get creative. If you’ve fought with your spouse or your boyfriend or whatever, it’s hard to get back into your groove. So if there’s fear in your world, is that fear creeping into your business?

That’s what this episode is all about. Because, today, I’m going to talk to you about how to stop fixating on fear and to start operating from a different, more positive mindset – a mindset that’s going to help you achieve the things that you want to achieve.

How to Stop Living in Fear While Running Your Business, Point #2: The difference between acting out of fear and acting out of abundance

So what’s the kind of mindset I want you to achieve? It’s called an abundant mindset.

When you look at six, seven, eight-figure business owners, they all have fears. They’ve had many fears, and those fears didn’t just go away. But instead of letting those fears control their business decisions, they CHOSE to say, “I have a fear and now I’m going to reframe it and think about it differently.” And if you want to reach multi-six-figure levels of success, you need to make the exact same choice…because if you make decisions out of fear, you will never get the outcomes you’re hoping for.

But when you start making decisions out of abundance, you are going to create the abundant lifestyle and abundant business you’re hoping for. And in case you’re not sure about the difference, let’s say you’re working a nine-to-five job. And you could have one of two thoughts:

  • Thinking out of fear: “I have to do this because if I don’t, I’ll get fired.”
  • Thinking out of abundance: “I get to do this and I get to have all the freedom that I want in creating this and fulfilling this job.”

Now, sometimes it’s hard to recognize that we’re making decisions out of fear because we don’t take a step back and look at our lives, decisions, and actions. So right now, I’m asking you to pause the episode (or take a break from reading these notes!) and ask yourself:

  • Am I making decisions out of fear or out of abundance?
  • Am I pushing myself away from something? (AKA, running out of fear?)
  • Or am I propelling myself toward something and accelerating myself?

How to Stop Living in Fear While Running Your Business, Point #3: Why you can get HUGE results from abundant thinking

Now, you’ve probably heard the saying, “Success is inevitable.”

But if you actually want to reach inevitable success, you have to believe that your success is inevitable in this same way that you believe the sun’s going to rise tomorrow. And when you believe in that so strongly, you start making actions from that place. And you end up creating the results you want.

And when you have that mantra of belief to lean on, you no longer have to act out of fear. You no longer have to think, “What if this happens or doesn’t happen or what if I don’t make enough money? Or what if no one shows up? Or What if I don’t get enough customers?”

No. Those are all fear-based what-ifs. After all, fear usually comes when someone is scared of an outcome. They’re scared of what’s going to happen. But the truth is, no one knows what the outcome is going to be. And if all you focus on is what could go wrong, you are going to create the exact thing that you don’t want to create because of the law of attraction. We attract what we think about. So if you believe you can’t find clients, you won’t find clients. If you believe you can, you most likely will.

So I’m challenging you to focus on what could happen if everything goes exactly right and you have the best possible result on the planet. So, for example, you could be considering becoming a business coach and think, “So many people offer this course already.” That’s acting out of lack and fear.

But when you reframe the situation, you can think, “Wow, that must mean that there is a demand for it.” And if you can differentiate yourself in a saturated market, then who cares? You know the clients and the opportunity are there.

How to Stop Living in Fear While Running Your Business, Point #4: What I want YOU to think about during your next business decision

So now, let’s get into how you can start acting from a place of abundance ASAP. The next time you’re going to make a decision that’s going to impact your business (or your personal life), I want you to consider three things:

  1. Number one: suppose this action of yours fails. What’s the absolute worst that could happen? Document it. Write it down with plenty of details.
  2. The second thing I want you to write down and think about is what if nothing happens? What’s the result of that? And sometimes this question can be better asked as, “What if I do nothing? What if I don’t do the thing that I’ve committed to doing?” Journal about it.
  3. Finally, write down and really visualize what would happen if the best result possible occurred.

Once all of that is written, focus on that third outcome, now that you have the other two jotted out of your system. Work toward the outcome of best and abundant. Because you can choose to do that, every single time.

How to Stop Living in Fear While Running Your Business: The Bottomline

If this episode has made you realize that you’ve been acting out of fear recently (or long-term), it’s OK. There is so much fear right now, and not just in America or your own country. The fear is global, so it makes sense that this fear could spill over into your business.

But that doesn’t mean that you need to keep acting in this way. You can choose to act in abundance and work toward the results that you actually want in your business…and I hope the techniques in this episode help you do exactly that!
