So many entrepreneurs I’ve spoken with express that they don’t enjoy selling and have a lot of anxiety around making sales. When I hear this, I can almost guarantee them that they are already selling without even realizing it.
If you think about it, even if you haven’t made a sale that day that doesn’t mean someone you’ve previously sold to hasn’t spoken to others about their experience with you. Think about how many times you’ve raved about your hair stylist or nail technician to your friends and later on they use them for a service. This is the same kind of concept! As long as your word of mouth is positive, this is how to sell without selling.
One of the best ways to make sales in your professional life is to think about the manner in which you make sales in your personal life. Even if you don’t realize it, you’re making sales in your personal life daily. Whether it’s selling an idea of a restaurant to your significant other or selling your kids on doing their chores, the process is very similar to how you should be making a sale for your business.
When you’re trying to sell someone on something whether it’s for your personal life or professional, it’s important that you start with building a strong rapport with the person. You then should explain to them what you’re selling, give insight on how it would impact them and finally spell out why they should care.
When you’re on a sales discovery call you need to have all of this information prepared. You should be completely ready and in position to make a sale. If you’re not ready to make that sale then the audience will most likely not be ready to buy from you.
Guide the conversation to where you want it to go and make sure that the person is aware of the long-term relationship they would get from working with you. It’s very important to always think about creating long-term relationships with anyone you sell to, this method of selling will be the way you can create long lasting relationships with clients while also promoting good word of mouth to other potential clients.
