Why Giving Yourself Grace Is Key as an Entrepreneur

In this episode of The Breakthrough Babe Podcast, we’re focusing on why it’s important to give yourself grace. In entrepreneurship, we are usually focused on achievement and challenging ourselves, which is important. But that can’t be all we focus on. Sometimes we have to stop and give ourselves a break. Otherwise, we burn out! In this episode, I’m sharing some areas I had to give myself grace in recently and talking about how you can do the same for yourself.

But before we dive right in, let me introduce myself in case this is your first visit. I am your host, Jen Gitomer, creator of Breakthrough Babe and author of the best-selling book, Sales in a New York Minute.

Forgive yourself for making mistakes.

We all know that no one is perfect, but it’s hard to let that sink in when we make a mistake.

I had a very clear reminder of this as I was trying to get this episode out to you. I’m supposed to submit my audio to my podcast team on Wednesdays. Well somehow on Thursday of last week, I thought it was still Wednesday. I still thought I had the whole day to get my audio recorded when I was actually late.

I felt really bad. But I realized I had a choice at that moment. I could beat myself up for this, or I could give myself some grace. I had a crazy week of launching multiple programs. I had to recognize how big that was and give myself a break.

Now of course, giving yourself grace doesn’t excuse mistakes. You still need to learn from them and do better in the future. But I promise you that beating yourself up doesn’t help. So when you make a mistake, give yourself grace and then move on. Learn from it rather than dwelling in it.

Recognize your wins.

It’s easy for us entrepreneurs to focus on what’s coming next. When we accomplish something, we immediately want to go on to the next goal.

But it’s so important to slow down and recognize our wins! We need to give ourselves some credit for all the things we do that take us in the direction we want to go.

And I’m not just talking about big wins. Reward yourself for taking actions that bring clarity. Not just when you get results. The number is only part of what needs to be recognized.

Part of giving yourself grace is recognizing you deserve to be celebrated for all that you do. I hope you can find big and small ways to celebrate your accomplishments.

I want to ask you: do you give yourself the support you would give a very best friend? You deserve that from yourself! It’s about supporting yourself so that you can really thrive! I hope you can treat yourself kindly so you can be the best entrepreneur, wife, mother, friend, sister, or whatever other roles you take on in your life.
