Sales Beliefs

Shifting Sales Beliefs, Point #1: You have to believe that what you’re selling has a value beyond the price.

If you have this deep belief in what you’re selling, for example, if you’re selling something for $1 and you believe it’s worth $100, it’s much easier to sell because then you can talk about the value that’s in it. Whereas if you sell something for $1 but it’s not even worth 47 cents, you will feel uncomfortable about selling. So how do you create that irresistible offer you fall in love with? Your customers won’t fall in love with your offer unless you do first. It’s not just that you need to fall in love with the offer, but you need to believe in it. You need to trust and have confidence in your offer.

Your customers will pick up on how you deliver your message and your confidence factor, you need to have the strongest belief in yourself and your product. I promise whether or not you intend for that belief to transfer, it will transfer. Everything you do, how you put yourself out there, and your messaging, shows that you’re confident.

Shifting Sales Beliefs, Point #2: Give value first.

What do I mean by giving value first? For example, today I had a phone call with someone looking to help me with social media, she told me her strategy. To grow your following and engagement, her strategy is to connect with people and Direct Message them. For me, that’s my biggest pet peeve, I see this a lot where someone connects and sends me a message with something along the lines of happy to connect, now let’s schedule a consultation call. To me, that is a little slimy if you are sliding in my DM’s, and instead of offering pure value, you have ulterior motives.

Give value that the other person would perceive to be valuable. When you are thinking long-term customers over short-term transactions, you will be thinking about how to create an authentic relationship. That relationship over time will lead to referrals or other business down the road. That person may never become a customer but they may become an engaged follower and share your stuff or lead you to other people.

Shifting Sales Beliefs, Point #3: Assume the sale, give value first, build the relationship, and help from your heart. It’s as simple as that.

People want to overcomplicate sales and give you these complicated strategies or formulas. It all comes down to helping at its core. You probably feel comfortable helping other people because that’s why you got into this industry of being a coach or a digital entrepreneur. That feeling when you do help someone else, and you see that light bulb go off, it’s the best feeling on the planet. You can’t get that feeling if you don’t assume the sale. If you go in assuming the sale, give value, build the relationship, think long term, and help from your heart, it’s as simple as that.

Make sure you check yourself, where are your intentions? Are they pure and coming from a good place? If you’re promoting a membership or course that will truly help someone there’s no harm in that, and if you give out free products or services then someone won’t put in the energy and efforts required. When someone puts in a financial investment they make an impact investment for themselves, there’s nothing wrong with asking money for what you offer, you are doing them a disservice if you don’t ask them to invest in it.

Shifting Sales Beliefs from Icky to Exciting: The Bottomline

Never think of it as selling again, you’re simply making an offer and inviting them to buy. You’re welcoming them into whatever it is you are offering, if you think of it that way it may be a little less hard on your heart and comfortable to make the sale. Sales are what makes the world go around, it is what drives this economy, and it’s a good thing.

So here’s your breakthrough game plan: Go out there and sell something!
