Money Mindset

Money Mindset, Point #1: Ask yourself, what is your money intention? What are your money goals?

If you have positive money beliefs, you will likely have positive money coming in. If you have negative money beliefs, then that’s impacting your ability to earn money. A lot of the time, we don’t realize a mindset or belief is blocking you from making money. I have a candle that I light before I hop on a sales call or before I work on a big project, it’s my way of setting my money intention. With that, I want to ask you, what is your money intention? Think about what money mindsets may be helping or limiting you.

Like any other belief, our money mindset is a belief we perceive as true in our heads. They continue with this thought lingering around, and you may not realize the impact it’s having on your business and ability to achieve your goals. Have your parents ever told you that money doesn’t grow on trees? After you hear this, you shape beliefs based on that statement. All these things we’ve heard our entire life shape our beliefs when it comes to money, and we don’t even realize it. That’s why it’s so important you take a moment to ask yourself what you believe is true and what your money intentions are.

Money Mindset, Point #2: Having a money mantra has been super powerful for me in overcoming limiting beliefs.

Having a money mantra where you believe there’s more money where that came from, money is abundant, and no matter what there will always be enough is powerful. If you believe this or can find a way to believe it, your entire approach to money will change. I know that I truly believe this mantra myself. When I go to the carwash, people usually tip the employees drying your car anywhere from a couple of dollars to $5. I always give them $15-20, you might find this insane. The truth is, doing this gives me joy. It gives me the joy to tip a little extra because by putting that energy out into the world, it will always come back to me. Whenever I tip at a restaurant, I don’t tip 20%. I always tip 25-30%.

I appreciate good service and I realize it’s something we take for granted. I also make it a mission to tip extra right now because some people haven’t worked in months or need the money now more than ever. I also tip extra because it’s a blessing I’m able to give. If you do the same and take on the same mentality, I promise something will always come back to you. It’s not to say that you should expect something back. However, if you allow a little extra bit of money when you go out to help someone feel appreciated, at some point in the future, it will come back to you.

Money Mindset, Point #3: Money is a tool, it’s going to either allow you to build something great or destroy stuff. You get to choose what you will do with money.

All of these beliefs around rich people being terrible isn’t the best belief to have. This perspective may not serve you if you are looking to build a successful business. If you are listening to this podcast, you are more than likely looking to make money. That’s why it’s so important to shed light on these money beliefs. Just like when it comes to debt, you get to choose what it is to you. You can determine whether debt is something good or bad. When it comes to the comparison game as well, right now in this age of social media and seeing highlights of people’s lives, it’s easy to compare.

On social media, you’ll see people sharing the new car they bought or the new luxurious bag they bought. Oftentimes we look at that and compare how we are to them. This comparison is not helpful to you whatsoever. Who cares what the other person has? Remember that you are only seeing what they want you to see. You aren’t seeing the struggles or mistakes behind their choices. By comparing yourself, you are creating a lack mentality. That lack mentality will never help you build more money. This will take the focus away from making money. Next time you find yourself comparing, I challenge you to think to yourself, “Good for them. That’s great, and I’m going to achieve the same thing for myself.”
