Thanksgiving is days away, and you may find yourself inspired to identify who and what you are grateful for, or at least you know you should be thinking about it.

Begin by making a list. Not your Black Friday shopping list, or your Cyber Monday deals list, but a list of those who have impacted your life. Also make a list of the most impactful events of the past year.

Like you, Im grateful for my family, my friends, my business friends, my advisors, and my clients. I am also very grateful to you my readers. Having your support and loyalty means I can continue to wake up and do something I love everyday.

For me, Thanksgiving is also a time of reflection. Its a time to take a few moments beyond the traditional gratefulness, and think about the past year and what I did to achieve new heights.

Its a time to give thanks. Take personal time to thank the people that have made a difference in your life throughout the year. Dont wait until Christmas or the holidays to send them a gift give them the best gift of all your personal gratitude. Tell them how theyve impacted you. Show your appreciation with your personal passion.

With the media hype focused on shopping and upcoming deals, Thanksgiving is slowly becoming this small holiday were squeezing in before Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Many stores now offer deals on Thanksgiving Eve, shifting the focus to when we can get to the store, rather than on the time well get to spend with family for the night.

While Thanksgiving is a nice reminder to be thankful, why not have an attitude of gratitude all year long?

When you have an attitude of gratitude, you will:

Appreciate life

Be happy

Be positive

Find meaning

Celebrate the good stuff

Celebrate yourself

Dont just give thanks, LIVE thanksall year long. Dont wait to tell the people how much you love them. Dont wait to tell your clients youre appreciative of their business. Tell them and show them throughout the year.

Pick an arbitrary date every month and call it your personal gratitude check-in. Ask yourself who and what youre appreciative of and then recognize the people in your life that deserve it.

PERSONAL NOTE: I am thankful to have parents who support me, guide me, advise me, and love me. A sister who is smart and immensely talented, and ready to give me a kick in the ass when I need it most. Grandparents who love me and think I can do no wrong. A wise mentor and friend who pushes me to the next level all the time, and makes me think, learn, and grow on a daily basis. True friends who are loyal, supportive, and fun. Not just on Thanksgiving Day, but every day.
